Frequently asked questions

Common questions, plain answers. Still have questions? Call us directly — 910-765-1003.

Do you treat adolescents?

No. You must be 18 years or older to receive treatment at TBR.

Do you provide inpatient treatment?

No. TBR provides outpatient addiction treatment only. All care is delivered virtually through telehealth — from your home, your office, or wherever you’re comfortable.

What is outpatient treatment?

Outpatient treatment is a combination of medical, educational, and behavioral therapy — including individual, group, and family sessions — provided on a flexible schedule based on your individual needs. Unlike inpatient care, you continue living at home and maintaining your normal routine.

Are you a methadone clinic?

No. We provide substance replacement medication using Suboxone or Zubsolv — similar in purpose to methadone but with key differences. Patients are seen weekly rather than daily, and visits are conducted via telehealth from home.

What is medication-assisted treatment (MAT)?

MAT uses FDA-approved medications — such as buprenorphine/naloxone (Suboxone) or naltrexone — to reduce cravings and withdrawal symptoms. It’s one of the most clinically effective approaches for opioid and alcohol use disorder, used alongside behavioral support.

Do you prescribe Suboxone?

Yes. Suboxone (buprenorphine/naloxone) is one of the primary tools we use in substance use treatment, alongside individual and group therapy. Medication is prescribed when clinically appropriate and reviewed regularly with your clinician.

Do you offer Subutex?

Yes, we offer Subutex (buprenorphine without naloxone) in qualifying circumstances. Your clinician will determine whether Subutex or Suboxone is the appropriate option based on your specific situation.

Is this actual medical care or just counseling?

Both. You’ll work with a licensed clinician who can prescribe medication when appropriate. Our care model includes medication-assisted treatment (MAT) along with behavioral health support — addressing both the physical and psychological dimensions of addiction.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes — we work with all major insurance payers. Our team verifies your coverage before your first appointment so there are no billing surprises. Call us to confirm your specific plan.

Do you take Medicaid?

Yes, we are contracted with Medicaid payers. If you’re unsure whether your specific Medicaid plan is covered, call us and we’ll verify it for you before you commit to anything.

Do you accept self-pay / cash?

Yes. Non-insured patients can utilize our self-pay service at affordable rates. Contact us to discuss pricing before your first appointment — no pressure, no surprises.

Will I get in trouble for admitting to taking illicit drugs?

No. All information you share is confidential and protected under HIPAA and federal substance use confidentiality regulations (42 CFR Part 2). Honesty helps us give you better care.

What if I’m not ready to tell anyone?

You don’t have to. Every visit is through secure, encrypted telehealth, and what you share with us stays confidential.

How do virtual visits work?

Every visit happens through secure, encrypted telehealth on your phone or computer — from your home, your office, or wherever you’re comfortable. No waiting rooms, no drives. Your care team sends you a link to join, and you don’t need a Zoom account.

Can I keep working during treatment?

Yes — that’s exactly why we built this the way we did. Visits are 20 minutes, never more than once a week. No time off required, no explaining an absence. You can take a visit from your car, your office, or your home.

How long does treatment last?

That depends on your situation. There’s no predetermined timeline. Your clinician will gauge progress and adjust over time. Some patients stabilize over months; others benefit from longer-term support. The goal is your recovery — not hitting a target discharge date.

I’ve tried before and it didn’t work. Why would this be different?

Recovery isn’t linear, and a previous attempt isn’t a failure — it’s part of the process. What’s different here is a treatment model designed around your real life: flexible, private, consistent, and built on evidence-based care rather than what’s convenient for a clinic.

How do I know counseling will actually help me?

That’s a powerful question — and asking it means you’re already thinking seriously about recovery. The only requirement is a willingness to participate. If you’re open to exploring yourself, your relationships, your patterns, and your approach to life, you’re already on the path toward sustained recovery.
